Frankland Islands

You can be part of a select few when you cruise in our new catamaran to this group of uninhabited islands south of Cairns. Snorkel, dive and explore the island with our friendly crew and no more than 100 other guests. Experience Cairns' best-kept secret - you won't be disappointed!

The Cruise: The Frankland Islands are a short open water cruise from the mainland. Your day begins and finishes with a gentle cruise along the Mulgrave River. An interesting commentary provides an insight into the river environment and significant local features.

The Islands: The Frankland Islands area unique Great Barrier Reef experience. Our daily destination, Normanby Island, offers a comprehensive reef system with an island displaying the features of a coral cay and a continental island.

The Reef: Snorkelling and reef viewing are easily accessed from the beach. Our guided snorkelling trails offer a simple and comprehensive introduction to the reef and provide and an excellent opportunity to observe this diverse marine environment.

The Discovery: Leisurely island walks explore the rainforest and surrounding rock pools and reef-flats. You will be amazed at what we can show you along the way.

The Lunch: Our delicious lunch includes a selection from the barbecue, complimented by fresh salads and tropical fruits under the cool shade of our large canopy among the trees.

The Crew: Our dedicated crew will help you enjoy a very special Great Barrier Reef island experience. They will provide personal assistance, information and service to you throughout the day.

 

Frankland Islands

The Experience: Because we take no more than 100 people per day, you'll be part of a very small select group to spend up to five hours in our natural paradise. And, you'll leave with memories that will last you a lifetime.

Scuba Diving: A day at Normanby Island can also offer a fabulous dive experience for either the certified diver or the uninitiated adventurer looking forward to an introductory dive with our experienced dive instructor.

Camping: For those wanting to explore further, camping is available on neighbouring Russell Island. Permits are issued on application by the Department of Environment and Heritage.

Your day includes:

  • A maximum group of only 100 passengers
  • Guided snorkelling tours, snorkelling equipment and tuition
  • Guided island walks and informative commentary throughout the day
  • Coral viewing and glass bottom boat tours
  • Mulgrave River Cruise with commentary
  • Tropical BBQ lunch (vegetarian available upon prior request)

  • Return transfers to your accommodation

What to bring: Hat, 15+ sunscreen, comfortable shoes for beach-combing, swimmers and a towel. You will transferred from our boat to the island by dinghy so footwear may get wet.
